Operators / Openers

Garage door openers operators broken repair opener door won't open Liftmaster garage won't close

We sell Liftmaster operators. There are several types of  operators, also called openers. The two most common are the chain drive and the belt drive. There is also a new smart operator as well as a lesser known Jackshaft operator. All new Liftmaster operators come equipped with "my Q" technology. The operators will connect to an app on your smart phone to allow you to control (open and close) your garage door from anywhere.

Chain Drive Operator

The chain operator is the most common and generally the least expensive. It uses a metal chain to attached to the springs in order to open and close the door. Being a metal chain it does produce some noise.

Belt Drive Operator

The belt drive performs the same action, just usually in a much quieter manner than the chain drive, as it uses a rubber belt to run along the trolly to open and close the door. Residential customers tend to prefer a belt drive if the garage is directly under the bedrooms to help reduce noise. They do tend to be more expensive than the chain drive.

Jackshaft Operator

The Jackshaft is another operator that is much less common, however, it is great when you are not wanting the operator on the ceiling or above the door. The Jackshaft will only work on a torsion spring assembly It attaches direclty to the torsion bar (side mount or wall mount) and eliminates the need for the rail that runs ovehead as the other two operators. This option is a lot more expensive than the others.

Smart Operator

The Smart operator has the my Q techonology as the rest of the operators do. They can also have cameras,  secure view video options, battery backups,  corner to corner lighting, or duel LED lights, blue tooth technology and more. Of course with these extra features, comes a much higher cost. However the cost is well worth it if you need to let people in and out of your garage door on a regular basis.
